LATE MRS. E. A. SARSFIELD

Family's Long Record as Licensees

The death occurred on Monday at the Rising Sun Inn, Newtown, Paulton, of Mrs. Emily Ann Sarsfield at the age of 76

Mrs. Sarsfield was the widow of Mr. George Sarsfield, who died about 24 years ago. She was a native of Paulton, having been born in the Rising Sun Inn, Newtown, Paulton, and was the eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jehu Derrick, who themselves resided at the Rising Sun Inn for many years.

Mr. Jehu Derrick was the licensee of the Rising Sun for a number of years. After his death the license was transferred to his widow, and between them Mr. and Mrs. Derrick held the license of the Rising Sun Inn, Paulton, for an unbroken period of over 70 years.

It was on the death of Mrs. Derrick six years ago that the license was transferred to her daughter, Mrs. Sarsfield, who had held it up to the time of her death.
