WINE LICENCE GRANTED

Seems To Be Wanted, Says Magistrate

A petition containing 320 names was handed to the magistrates at Temple Cloud on Wednesday last week, when Mr. James Woodland applied for a licence to sell wines on and off the premises at the Winterfield Inn, Paulton. There was no objection raised in the court, and the magistrates granted the licence, Lord Strachie, the chairman, saying that it seemed to be wanted.

Mr. R. B. Kent appeared for Mr. Woodland, and explained that the district had grown considerably, and there had been a large amount of building before the war. Trade had increased, and many people came there with their wives and asked for wines. The nearest house where wine could be obtained was half a mile away.
