NAVAL BRIDEGROOM
Mr Grenville Baker Weds Miss Ruth Perry
Mr. Grenville Baker, who is serving on one of H.M. ships at Devonport, and who is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. William Baker, of 13, Upper Townsend, Paulton, and Miss Ruth Marie Perry, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. G. Perry, of "The Old Lottery," Paulton, were married on the last day of the old year at the Paulton Parish Church, the service being conducted by the Rev. W. Goddard. The bride, who was given in marriage by her brother, Mr. Bryan Edward Thomas Perry, was attired in a grey two-piece suit, with hat and shoes to tone, and wore a spray of carnations.
The duties of best man were carried out by Mr. Ronald Elms (brother-in-law), and about 40 guests attended the reception held at the Old Lottery Inn.
The honeymoon was spent at Plymouth, where the couples future home will be.
Many valuable and costly gifts were received by the happy couple including a silver tea service from the officers and men on board H.M.S. Indefatigable, and a canteen of cutlery from the packing department at Purnell and Sons, Ltd., where the bride was employed.
