SPIRIT LICENCE GRANTED
At the adjourned licensing sessions at Temple Cloud on Wednesday, Mr. R. G. Kent, of Frome, made a successful application for a spirit licence on behalf of Mr. James Woodland, licensee of the Winterfield Inn, Paulton.
Mr. Kent said that, some two years ago, the licensee successfully applied for a wine licence respecting that Inn, previous to which he had only held a beer licence. Since then trade had increased, and many requests had been made for spirits.
Mr. Woodland's application was supported by Mr. R. C. Carter, farmer, of Salisbury, Paulton, and also by Mr. W. G. Carter, licencee of the Victoria Inn, Paulton.
Mr. Farquhar, manager of the Oakhill Brewery Co., Ltd., the owners of the house, agreed on behalf of his company that, in the event of the application being granted, they were prepared to pay £1,000 monopoly value.
