SHOVE HA'PENNY
Keen Fight in Radstock League
An interesting evening marked the close of the Radstock and District Shave Ha'penny League on Monday night at Paulton. The Blackbird Inn, after beating the Crown Inn "C" on the previous Monday, at the Crown Inn, looked certain to make sure of the League on their own slate, as they only needed to draw.
The Crown Inn, however, revenged themselves on the Blackbird and won by 4 games to 2, thus winning the League for the first time. The Bell Hotel, the only other team to beat the Blackbird, had to win their game at the Winterfield Inn, so as to be in the running. This they did by 5 games to 1, which put them level on points with the Blackbird for runners-up.
This necessitated a final game between the Blackbird and the Bell, which will be arranged at the League meeting to be held at the Bell Hotel. T. Jordan, one of the Crown Inn team, is in the final for the Individual Competition, so it is possible the Crown Inn to win both the League and the Individual Championship.
