PAULTON FORMER LICENSEE

Funeral of Mr. Fred Smith

The news of the death of Mr. Fred Smith. a former well-known licensee of the Old Lottery Inn, Paulton, was received in the village and neighbourhood with deep regret by his many friends.

Mr. Smith, who was 67, died at his home, Windyridge, Paulton, where he had resided for just over two years. For 28 years he was licensee of the Old Lottery, and for a long period of years, was employed as a boot operative at Messrs. Ashman Bros., of Paulton.

He had beep in failing health for a number of years, and had been a patient at both the Bath and Bristol Eye Infirmaries. He leaves an only son, Mr. Roy Smith, who is employed as an electrician at the Midsomer Norton branch of the South Western Electricity Board, and to whom the deepest sympathy has been extended.

The Vicar of Paulton, the Rev. Dennis Gimblett, conducted the funeral service, in the Paulton Parish Church. on Feb. 20. The Interment followed in Paulton Cemetery, in the grave of his wife, who predeceased him some three and a half years ago.

Many relatives and friends attended the funeral, and the floral tributes were as follows: Roy. Mr. Roy Smith and family desire to tender their sincere thanks to all relatives and friends for sympathy shown, and floral tributes sent in their recent sad bereavement.— Windyridge, Poulton
