Salisbury and Winchester Journal - 03 November 1828
PAULTON, SOMERSET
To be SOLD, in FEE, or LET, (by AUCTION) on the Premises, on Tuesday, the 11th of November 1828, at three o'clock in the afternoon, with immediate possession, subject to such conditions as will be then and there produced, (unless disposed of in the mean time by private contract, of which the earliest possible notice will be given), - All that commodious and well-arranged FREEHOLD BREWERY, Malt-house, and substantial DWELLING-HOUSE, together with extensive cellarage, large yard, and garden; with every convenient building for carrying on the Malting and Brewing Business; now and for many years past in the possession of Mr. Rich. Watts.
The Brewing Apparatus is equal to mashing 60 bushels each time, with machinery complete, and store pieces sufficient to store from seven to eight hundred barrels of beer, which, if sold, must be taken at a valuation by the purchaser. The Malt-house is equal to working from 60 to 70 quarters per month.
Paulton is situate in the midst of valuable Collieries, and an abundant population; also nearly midway between the cities of Bristol, Bath and Wells, and the towns of Frome and Shepton Mallet, and about 17 miles from that celebrated Barley Market (Warminster), through which an immense traffic to the neighbouring Collieries is carried on, and consequently the back carriage of corn is extremely low.
For a view of premises, and to treat by private contract, apply (if by letter post-paid) to Mr. Richard Watts, the proprietor, at Paulton; and for further particulars, to Mr. Chas. Mullins, solicitor, Chew-Magna, near Bristol, or Mr. James Young, Auctioneer, Radstock
