PETTY SESSIONS, YESTERDAY

(Before Mr. S. S. P. Sambourne, Col. Scobell, Messrs. C. A. Kemble and H. E. Hippisley)

There was a very large number of cases in which the parents of children were summoned for not sending their children to school. Divers excuses were made by the defendants, and in the majority of cases fines of 2s were imposed.

The following licenses were transferred:-

- The Miners' Arms, Chewton Mendip, from William James Bartlett to Thomas Samuel Weeks;
- The Somerset Inn, Paulton, from Frank Rowsell to Frederick William Perry;
- The Winterfield Inn, Paulton, from William Woods to William Barrett.

Thomas Broderipp, licensee of the Flying Dutchman public-house, Paulton, was summoned on the information of Superintendant Dicks, for permitting drunkenness upon his licensed premises, on October 24th. A telegram was received from the defendant's solicitor asking that the case might be adjourned until the next sessions, in a a fortnight's time. The application was granted, the defendant having to pay the costs of the adjournment.
