Query #3 - Organ in Great Chalfield Church, Wilts

The very picturesque painted wood organ case was apparently installed in Great Chalfield Church when alterations and restorations were made about 1910 by Sir Harold Brakspear under the direction of the owner, Mr. Fuller. Who was responsible for the case, and is it intended as a copy of one elsewhere, or of a 16th century painted screen? E. P., Trowbridge.

The organ case was designed by Mr. C. H. Biddulph-Pinchard, F.R.I.B.A., of 9, Staple Inn, London, W.C.1, and painted by Miss Maurice, of London, during the restorations and plenishings of the Church 1912-14. The scenes and pictures painted on the case are "after" the screen in Ramworth Church, Suffolk. The case encloses an organ built by the Rev. Kingston, Rector of Chalfield, 1878 to 1900.— R. F. Fuller, Great Chalfield, Melksham.
