DID NOT BELIEVE HIM

Judge Gwynne James and a Paulton Licensee

In a claim made at Frome County Court on Tuesday (before Judge Gwynne James) by Frank Lancelot Haydon, veterinary surgeon, Midsomer Norton for £2 10s. 3d. against Charles Hall, licensee of the Victoria Inn, Paulton, plaintiff stated that defendant asked him to slaughter a horse, but he (plaintiff) told him that he did not want his work. Defendant said it was his brother's horse, and on that understanding plaintiff did the work, for which he had not been paid by defendant, who subsequently admitted that it was his horse.

In answer to the Judge, Hall denied that he told plaintiff it was his brother's horse.

Plaintiff said he could produce evidence to support his contention.

His Honour made an order for payment of 10s. a fortnight, and told defendant he did not believe him.
