LOCAL INTELLIGENCE

Temple Cloud

At the Petty Sessions, holden on the 9th inst., before Capt. Scobell, John Hippisley, Wm. Savage Wait, and George Mogg, Esqrs.

John Webb, of the parish of Chew Magna, beer-seller, was fined £2 for keeping open his house after 10 o'clock at night for the sale of beer.

Thomas Brodribb, of Paulton, attended by his solicitor, Mr. Marshall, appeared to answer the complaint of Ann Emery, of the same place, whom she swore to be the father of her bastard child. This case has been twice adjourned in consequence of the conflicting testimony of the several witnesses examined on both sides. An order was made for 1s. 6d. per week, and £1 : 9s. for costs.

George Alcombe, a police-constable, acting in the parishes of High Littleton and Timsbury, preferred complaint against John Banfield, Richard Banfield, and Henry Banfield (father and sons), for assaulting him in the execution of his duty. The justices adjourned the case to allow the defendant to bring witnesses.
